Google Willow: Logical error rate

0.011 error per cycle

As stated in the source: “ε5 = 0.0110(2) per cycle (distance-5 color code)”

Uncertainty: 0.0108 to 0.0112 (Stated as 0.0110(2); the type of interval is not stated in the part read.).

Caveats

Different, smaller Willow chip (72 qubits) from the 105-qubit Willow on the spec sheet. Quantum memory result; error suppression from distance 3 to 5 was only Λ = 1.56(4), weaker than the surface code result.

Set-up
72-qubit Willow-generation chip. Distance-5 color code logical qubit using 19 data qubits and 18 auxiliary qubits (37 physical qubits) on a 72-qubit Willow processor.
Method
Color code memory, logical error per cycle, neural-network decoder (AlphaQubit)
